Grammy-award-winning artist and rapper Jay-Z shook the internet when he created an Instagram account on November 2 but left fans high and dry when he deleted the account less than 24 hours after hitting over 1 million followers.
According to CBS News, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, decided to hop on the social media platform on Tuesday and gained 1.7 million by the following day. Jay also hit a new record by being the only person his wife, grammy-award winning artist Beyoncé, followed, and he solely followed her in return.
However, fans came to a rude awakening on Thursday when coming back to Instagram, searching for the rapper whose account was already gone just as quickly as it came. After sharing just one post promoting the Netflix movie The Harder They Fall, which he co-produced, the artist bowed out of using the platform.
Jay-Z is famous for his incredible business ventures with have garnered his net worth to stand at $1.4 billion. His assets include his entertainment company, Roc Nation, to an impressive fine art collection that has works from world-renowned artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, and much more.
Jay is also involved with Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac brands, but his latest venture is the co-production of The Harder They Fall, which seems to be the sole purpose of his social media creation.

Netflix describes the film to be about a cast of actors and legendary Black western figures throughout history, which come together for a fictional story about two rival groups, the Nat Love and the Rufus Buck gangs.
Now that the film premiered on November 3, and The Harder They Fall is one of the top movies streaming on the platform, it seems that Jay’s work is done.
