Grammy-award-winning artist and rapper Jay-Z has left his hometown of New York behind and officially become a resident of California.
According to All Hip Hop, the artist said he plans on staying in California, where he lives with his children Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi, as well as his wife, pop singer Beyonce.
“I intend to keep my primary residence in Los Angeles, California, and do not intend to move my primary residence to another state. I pay California state taxes. In light of these facts, I consider myself to be domiciled in Los Angeles, California,” Jay-Z confirmed.
The Brooklyn rapper has won the hearts of the world through this passion and love for his borough. So much so that he even made the song “Empire State of Mind,” which featured singer-songwriter Alicia Keys as a tribute to his city.
The Carters are known for being in the big leagues when it comes to real estate.
Jay-Z and Beyonce paid an astonishing $26 million on a seven-bedroom seven and a half bathroom home in East Hampton, New York, in September of 2017.
Later that year, the couple also purchased a mansion in Bel Air, California, for a jaw-dropping $88 million, where the Carters mainly reside.
As previously reported, they also own a home in New Orleans, which recently caught on fire, and a house in Houston, Texas.
Jay-Z has become a legend in the entertainment industry. He started off with a simple music career and has turned himself into a billionaire.
According to Forbes, his growing empire encompasses industries such as liquor, art, real estate (homes in Los Angeles, the Hamptons, Tribeca), and stakes in companies like Uber.
Fellow Forbes list billionaire Warren Buffett praised the rapper on his ability to influence the masses.
He said, “Jay is teaching in a lot bigger classroom than I’ll ever teach in. For a young person growing up, he’s the guy to learn from.”
