HBO’s Insecure officially wrapped up its five seasons on Sunday night with the highly-anticipated premiere of the show’s series finale. And while many were tuning in to see which man, if any, Issa Dee would end up with, others were here for the loving friendship displayed between her and Molly.
**Spoiler alert for those who haven’t yet seen the final episode.
Following Molly tying the knot with fellow attorney Taurean on the series finale, the character emotionally shared her gratitude towards her best friend Issa for always being in her corner. Yvonne Orji, who portrays Molly on Insecure, shared via Twitter later that the tearful moment between the two was partly improvised.
“This scene in the bathroom was the final scene I shot as molly. During one of the takes, @The_A_Prentice told me to go off script and thank @IssaRae for how she changed my life,” the actress shared. “We were crying for real FOR REAL.”

One fan also tweeted about the heartwarming scene, “I didn’t cry until Molly said ‘Thank you for being you, for loving me while I was me.’ I broke down cause lord knows that is all we need, for our people to love us while we are being us, especially when that ‘us’ isn’t the best version of ourselves.”

I know we focused on the romance a lot in this show but the definition of growth is found within Molly and Issa’s friendship. Friendships are hard. And this show was a true showcasing of what it means to love through relationships as people still figuring it out. #InsecureHBO

Still, many were also invested in whether Issa would end up #TeamNathan or #TeamLawrence. And with the surprise reveal that Lawrence put a ring on it and was officially back with Issa, social media users appeared to be split on the decision.

On the other hand, others weren’t too pleased with the finale’s Lawrence and Issa pairing.
One fan tweeted about Insecure’s finale episode, “Confused how Issa + Lawrence ended up together when she didn’t even look genuinely happy.
