A 24-year-old woman suffered a gunshot to her head the same early morning of Nov. 1 that fallen Migos rapper Takeoff was killed, KHOU 11 reported.
Sydney Leday, a Los Angeles resident, was out with friends in Houston celebrating her 24th birthday (two days before) and Halloween. Dressed as a nun, she attended the private party at 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley. Leday said that everything was normal and fun until around 2:30 a.m.
Outside the venue, she saw Migos member and Takeoff’s uncle Quavo playing a dice game. Leday discussed how she could sense something negative in the air when Quavo started to get upset. She initially thought the argument that ensued was nothing but raillery until it escalated.
“That’s when I knew something was wrong,” she said.
Following her instincts, she began to run, but bullets started to fly and eventually hit Leday in the back of her head. After falling to the ground, she got up and took the escalator down to her friend’s car. During the 12-minute car ride to Memorial Hermann Hospital, Leday called her mom to inform her of what was happening before she had a seizure.
“I remember what happened because I was up the whole time after I got shot in the head and I called my mom and told her what happened and told her to come (to the hospital),” she recalled.
As Sis2Sis reported, Takeoff was killed outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley on Nov. 1. Videos captured the rapper’s demise, showing Quavo screaming for help while squatting over his body.
It would take Leday about a week to recover in the hospital before she was discharged to go home. Although she recovered physically, she suffered mentally because she couldn’t unsee the traumatic event that unfolded that night. She had a panic attack immediately after coming home and didn’t have an appetite.
Leday also said that she didn’t know anyone else was shot that night, not even Takeoff, but she feels terrible.
The family is trying to raise $150,000 to take care of Leday’s medical bills, which will be expensive since she doesn’t have insurance.
