Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, the daughter of Floyd Mayweather, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to stabbing Lapratta Jacobs, the mother of one of the rapper NBA YoungBoy’s children, back in 2020.
According to court documents, the 21-year-old, who also shares a son with the rapper, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Admitting to “unlawfully, intentionally and unknowingly” causing “bodily injury to” Jacobs using a knife, the young woman now faces six years of probation, possibly including community service, restitution or both. Originally, she faced up to 20 years in prison.
In a statement to XXL, Mayweather’s attorney, Kent Schaffer, said that they “resolved the case between Iyanna and the State.”
“The agreement calls for Iyanna beiing on a deffered adjudication for a period of six years after which she will have no felony conviction and the case will be dismissed,” he continued. “She is eligible to have the deferred adjudication end after two years pending her good behavior. Although we believe that Iyanna was defending herself after being attacked, we thought this was the safest resolution for her. This is especially true since her boyfriend and his bodyguards refused to testify; probably due to their own legal problems.”
On the day of the incident, it was reported that the rapper and Jacobs were in a Houston home when Mayweather showed up angry about Jacbos being at the house. The dispute escalated when they went into the kitchen and Mayweather grabed twoo knives, stabbing Jacobs twice. Jacbos said she didn’t feel being stabbed the first time.
Mayweather informed police that things turned physical after Jacobs pulled her hair when they were outside the home, before Mayweather stabbed her.
It has also been reported that back in December of 2020, Jacobs got a restraining order against Mayweather.
