We might finally know why Jasmine Davis left her role in Season 5 of The Chi.
According to Page Six, a source said producers discovered Davis allegedly had submitted a fake COVID vaccination card prompting an investigation.
“Jasmine asked for a vaccination exemption when she submitted a vaccination card for the prior season. This triggered an investigation, and Jasmine then quit the show,” the source said.
Davis wrote on Twitter, “So 4 2 years I’ve been bullied 4 being on a show that was kind of a nightmare & the moment I clap back Instagram flag my comment as harassing them for trying to harass me on my page it’s unfair how they can come on my page and say whatever with no consequences.”

The actress said she will be doing a series of talks on social media sharing why she left “that very toxic environment.”
She wrote, “Thank all of you for your kind words and support. I’ll be doing my first of 4 of different interviews as promised on why I left @SHOTheChi Wednesday at 1 PM on IG live. You will find out who the interview is being taken place with Wednesday at noon #thechi #jasminedavis.”

As previously reported by Sis2Sis, Davis originally announced her departure from The Chi as the transgender character, Imani, via Twitter, writing, “Due to the many inquiries, I’m officially announcing. I will not be in season 5 of @SHOTheChi, and I will no longer be part of #thechi / #disneyproduction. Sending a BIG THANKS to all of my family and supporters/fans who have embraced me with along this journey.”

Speculation circulated that the actress left The Chi amid Disney’s sponsorship of Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The legislation was signed into law in March by Governor Ron DeSantis and censors classroom discussions surrounding sexual orientation or expression.
However, Davis tweeted to “urge all media and bloggers to not use my departure from @SHOTheChi as a political stance.”
When a fan asked her why the actress would not be returning for Season 5 of the show, Davis responded, “The reasons will be discussed at a later time.”
