The Blacker The Berry: Actor John Boyega Sat Down To Discuss His Dream Woman

On August 19, Star Wars actor John Boyega sat with Bevy Smith, host of SiriusXM’s show Bevelations, to discuss manifesting his perfect woman. Boyega and Smith bantered about his dream woman and divulged that he liked his women “brown and thick.”

“Well, baby, you know, you about to have the ladies go crazy now that you said specifically, brown-skinned women. I read a thing where it said that you like ’em brown and thick.’” Smith said during the interview, prompting a laugh.

Boyega confirmed, “Well, we gotta be honest like I’m, you know before I wouldn’t have said that at 27, 28,” he expressed. “Now I’m like, ‘No, no, you gotta speak it into existence.”

He continued, “Brown and thick, melanin levels past 75 percent. Thick levels. You have to be looking good.”

Boyega talked more about some important things to him in a partner.  “My mom and dad have been together for 25 years, so that’s the system I will follow. It’s nice to survive with your companion by your side. I’m sure it’s a good thing. But I’ve never experienced it. And people advise you as a celebrity, ‘Make sure you get someone who doesn’t care about your career.’ She has to care about it to understand it.”

He talked about getting out of his “boyish” appeal as he turned 30 and passing over into more mature-looking territory.

Smith assured Boyega that he didn’t need to be a part of the “beard-gang” to look mature, leading him to talk about compliments he’d received after he shaved.

“I thank the Lord for growth,” he said. “Facial hair, we’re still trying to get on top of that. But the Lord has done it mentally. I’m where I’m supposed to be.”

“I shaved down the other day. And I still got complimented,” he said. “I said to myself, ‘Well, maybe I’m one of those. I’m like the equivalent of the girl who, without makeup, still looks good. So for me, I’m gonna take that one home. And it was a Black woman that told me. She said, ‘You look good shaved down. You look real good shaved down.’”

One thing’s for sure–  the actor is transparent that he’s #TeamBlackWomen.
