Singer-songwriter Victoria Monét corroborated the previous dating rumors about her and Kehlani on Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast, High Low with EmRata.
In an episode published on Tuesday, Victoria revealed the “Touch Me” remix she did with Kehlani was about the “Honey” songstress, and they recorded it while she was pregnant.
The 30-year-old singer answered Emily’s question about whether she and Kehlani were friends and confirmed the rumors.
“Yeah, friends,” Victoria answered. “I kind of am like that with all of my past relationships. I really don’t like the idea of, like, ‘Now, someone’s dead to me,’ unless they did…some of my relationships ended where they did me wrong, for sure. But, I don’t know, I just got over it, and I like to have an open connection.”
Without getting into too many details about the nature of their past relationship, Victoria expanded on how she’s adamant about ending relationships on a good note, emphasizing the stress of cutting people from her life and hating them.
“I don’t want to, like, kill somebody off…I feel like that takes even more energy to try to avoid people and hate them,” Victoria stated.
Emily asked how the two singers could transition from lovers to friends, and the “On My Mama” singer responded honestly.
“I think it takes a lot of time,” Victoria stated.
Although Victoria prefers to keep things platonic, she affirmed she wasn’t the type to go out of her way to be friendly with the former lover, like asking them to lunch or dinner. But she believes she and her former lover should be able to hang around mutual friends, and things are not weird.
According to Gay Times, Victoria came out as bisexual on Twitter and confessed during a 2020 interview with the outlet that she was in love with a girl who got pregnant by her boyfriend but never revealed the woman. She also said the “girl” was in a polyamorous relationship.
That same year, news of Kehlani’s pregnancy surfaced. In 2018, Kehlani also revealed she and YG had a poly-situation going on when people assumed he was cheating. But many people didn’t connect the dots.
