Oscar Nominated Actress Angela Bassett Brings Tears To Oscar Nominee Actor Brian Tyree Henry During Interview On ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’

We'd all give a left foot to receive a compliment from Queen Angela Bassett.

Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actress Angela Bassett brought tears into the eyes of actor and fellow Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry when she threw him unexpected compliments about his work.

The heart-melting moment occurred this week during The Late Late Show with James Corden. Corden sat behind the two and watched as Henry seized the moment to ask Bassett questions. How Bassett answered one of his questions brought tears to the Bullet Train

actor’s eyes.

“Who do you love more right now: me or James [Coren]” Henry asked, which was supposed to be a small joke. Coren can be seen in the back smiling.

Bassett caught Henry off guard with her response.

“I love what my eyes have laid sight on. And that is a completely brilliant artist whose work I’ve come to admire and to love,” Bassett said to an emotional Henry, who had his hands up to his mouth. “I appreciate the work that you do, and I hope to be lucky one day to work with you. Your vulnerability and sensitivity and strength, and you’re just a basa**!”

Henry got up from his seat and embraced the What’s Love Got to Do With It actress.

Before Henry began asking the actress questions, they recalled their first time meeting amid press tours. Henry remembered clamming up while in Bassett’s presence.

“I didn’t know what to say…when you’re standing next to greatness, you kind of clam up,” he said. “My only thing I could think to do was just bow and just nod.”

Compliments from Bassett are an incredible honor, especially since she’s a longtime actress with two Golden Globes and multiple NAACP Image Awards. She recently gave an over $24 billion media franchise its first Golden Globe award because of her impeccable performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
