Mary J. Blige and Diddy have maintained a close relationship since their careers began in the early ’90s. They have shown love by supporting and uplifting each other with heartwarming posts on social media. And now, the musical legends recently showed off their dancing skills at a party in a TikTok video last week.

In the 19-second clip, the longtime friends were caught dancing at what appeared to be a house party. Blige started the dance battle signaling the music mogul as he incorporated some moves before the two started mimicking the dance moves together.

The video was posted to Diddy’s account, amassing more than 1.9 million views, over 261,000 likes, and 3,358 comments on the video-sharing app. Fans flooded the comment section, praising the two New York natives while acknowledging their contributions to the Hip Hop and R&B industry.

One user said, “Mary is the meaning of black don’t crack. It’s amazing how good she still looks 🥰.”

“This looks soooo fun. You can tell they have a genuine relationship. Her documentary was really good too,” another user said.

One user pointed out that the 51-year-old made sure not to spill her drink while dancing with Diddy.

“My girl Mary didn’t spill a drop and finished the lil dance AND drink…#Effortless.”

The reunion comes one day after the “Good Morning Gorgeous” artist received the Billboard Icon Award from Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Janet Jackson during the 2022 Billboard Music Awards on May 15. Diddy also hosted the award show that night, Sis2Sis reported.

“What makes an icon?” Jackson said before the montage aired. “Is it the ability to create, explore, and practically pioneer an entire musical genre? Is it the amassing of millions of dedicated fans that breathe your art daily…Is it a multidecade career full of not only hits but those songs that make you feel a certain way when you hear them?… The answer is all of the above.”

She added, “The answer is tonight’s recipient of the 2022 Billboard Icon Award: Mary J. Blige. She is recognized by Billboard as one of the most successful R&B-hip-hop artists in the modern era, with 11 Billboard Awards, nine Grammy Awards, [and] over 75 million records sold. Mary J. Blige represents truth. Her music has always given us comfort because she sings me, she sings you…Mary has made a commitment to her fans to always be her authentic self.”

After the video had ended, Blige took the podium and began to reflect on her 31-year career in the industry.

“Wow, I’m in a dream right now. Thank you so much,” Blige said. “Janet Jackson…speaking of icon, you were always one of our biggest inspirations growing up. The way the world is now, I think people think icons are born that way [or] they become a legend overnight, but that is definitely not the case. It takes a lot of time, hard work…trial and error to achieve greatness. What an icon means to me is overcoming obstacles to accomplish the unthinkable and [being] widely admired for having influence over a multitude of people, and that is what I’ve always represented.”

She also acknowledged Diddy and their decades-long friendship after he produced her debut album “What’s the 411?” released in 1991.
