Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor, and director Chris Rock’s brother, Kenny Rock, said he wanted to fight Oscar Award-winning actor and rapper Will Smith after inking a celebrity boxing deal.
“I should get in the ring with Will Smith,” he told a reporter in New York City after he was asked if he thought his sibling should rumble in the ring with the King Richard star.
“Do you think that your brother and Will Smith should get in the ring as well?” the reporter initially inquired.
“No, they shouldn’t,” the 42-year-old responded.
“You think you can definitely take [Will Smith] down?” she then asked him.
“Yes, no ifs and buts about it…I’ll let the hands do the talking,” he said.
Kenny signed his new deal with Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman for a fight in Florida this summer. As such, he challenged Will to a match just a few weeks after the actor slapped his brother Chris during the 2022 Oscar Awards ceremony on Mar. 27.
The 53-year-old smacked the comedian in retaliation for ridiculing his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s over her bald head on stage. She recently revealed that she shaved her head due to suffering from alopecia.
“Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth!” Will shouted to Chris that evening.
Two days later, he uploaded an apology statement via his Instagram account, but the 57-year-old’s brothers weren’t having it. Kenny, in particular, said he felt the Philly native should’ve been stripped of his Oscar award.
“How is [Chris]?” the news reporter asked him.
“He’s doing great. I haven’t seen him, but we’ve talked.”
He added that he didn’t want to bring up the Oscars slap incident during their conversations and that he didn’t think Chris accepted Will’s apology.
“Has your brother accepted Will’s Instagram apology?” the reporter also asked.
“I doubt it, very seriously. I didn’t wanna bring it up.”
Kenny concluded that he and his brother, Tony, have been taking the entire situation personal.
“[Tony] is taking it kind of personal, and I don’t blame him. I’m taking it [personal], but I’m more like a quiet storm.”
