Kanye West has responded to Kim Kardashian’s court order to restore her single status following their pending divorce.
According to TMZ, West acknowledged Kardashian’s petition to be declared single before custody and property issues are resolved. While the hearing is scheduled for some time next month, the 44-year-old’s lawyer has filed legal documents to contest his estranged wife’s request.
Ye’s lawyer is concerned that if the KUWTK star remarries, she could transfer some of their monetary assets into her separate accounts. The “Donda” artist’s petition requires the 41-year-old to keep their assets as marital property.
West and his legal team responded with three conditions, which his lawyer said Kardashian has rejected.
1. If either of them dies, he wants to make sure any money that might be owing to either gets reimbursed.
2. Kanye wants to block Kim from transferring assets out of any trust they created.
3. He wants Kim to waive their marital privilege pending a final custody decision. This is interesting … he wants to ensure any communications between the 2 of them can be part of the court record. He also wants to make sure, if Kim remarries, she would waive any spousal privilege between her and her new husband … in other words, he wants to make sure any conversations between her and a new husband, as it relates to custody, would be fair game in court.
Since Kardashian went public with boyfriend Pete Davidson, the 44-year-old musician has seemingly spiraled out of control with multiple failed attempts to reconcile his marriage with his estranged wife. In November, West attended the Los Angeles Mission’s Annual Thanksgiving event and opened up about his mistakes as a husband and wanting to mend his strained relationship with Kim.
“The narrative God wants is to see that we can be redeemed in all these relationships,” West said during the charity event to help those living near Los Angeles’ Skid Row. “We’ve made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve publically done things that were not acceptable as a husband, but right now today, for whatever reason — I didn’t know I was going to be in front of this mic — but I’m here to change the narrative.”
In December, Ye clearly made it known that he wanted his family back and decided to purchase a home right across the street from the SKIMS founder. Though he said he made the surprising yet, creepy move to be closer to his children, Kayne wanted to keep tabs on the 41-year-old’s budding relationship with the Saturday Night Live cast member.
While publicly pleading for Kardashian to take him back, the Chicago native has had a few short-lived romances with model Vinetria and actress Julia Fox. The former couple recently split after being together for more than two months.
After the reality star filed a petition to transition back to her maiden name, West has continuously found ways to criticize Kim as a mother while publicly threatening to cause bodily harm to Davidson in a released track from his new album. He even accused the mother of four of allegedly allowing the Staten Island native inside her home and being around their children.
When the former couple got married, a prenup was involved to keep all of their assets separate. Neither one of them has contested the legal document.
Kardashian filed for divorce from West in 2021 after seven years of marriage. They share four children: North, 8; Saint, 6; Chicago, 4 and Psalm, 2½.
Last month, the “Jesus Walks” rapper criticized the 41-year old’s parenting style after claiming that nannies raised their children.
In a song entitled Eazy featuring The Game, West said his parenting style would be much different than the SKIMS founder, Sis2Sis reported.
“I got love for the nannies, but real family is better,” the Yeezy founder said in the track. “The cameras watch the kids. Y’all stop takin’ the credit.”
