Kanye West and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian have publicly addressed their family issues multiple times on social media. Despite the former couple’s pending divorce, they have always kept their children as a top priority in their lives. However, the Chicago native has recently struggled to accept the reality star’s boyfriend, Pete Davidson, establishing a close bond with his kids.
Sources close to West told Hollywood Life that the 45-year-old “knows the bond he has with his kids is unbreakable.” Still, he’s having difficulty watching his children, North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3, form a relationship with the former Saturday Night Live cast member.
“[It’s not something] Kanye was prepared for or even thinking about when he and Kim split,” the insider revealed. “For Pete and the kids to get so close, so fast, is deeply unsettling for Kanye. It’s really difficult seeing photos of them together everywhere he goes, and he just wishes things were different.”
Another source added, “Kanye is still having trouble accepting that he can’t fix this and get his family back together. He’s still very heartbroken and trying everything he can to stall the proceedings. It’s painful for him to see Kim moving on with Pete, and to see Pete spending all this time with his kids has magnified that pain even further.”
In December, the “Jesus Walks” rapper purchased a $4.5 million home across the street from the SKIMS founder to be close to his children, Sis2Sis reported. At the time, West made the questionable move in an attempt to reconcile with Kardashian and reunite as a family. Instead, the 42-year-old seemingly moved on with the Staten Island native.
The following month, West told Hollywood Unlocked that Kardashian barred him from having access to her home. He then accused Davidson of being at the residence, saying, “And I am hearing that the new boyfriend is actually in the house that I can’t even go to.”
An insider close to the comedian denied those claims.
“Pete has never been to the house,” the source told E! News. “He has never met the kids.”
The recent news comes after Davidson’s recent outings with the children. In April, he was captured riding in an electric car with North and went on a solo shopping trip with Saint over the weekend. Paparazzi took snapshots of the two at the Cheesecake Factory and checked out toys at a local Walmart in Woodland Hills.
“Pete and Saint looked like they were having a blast which is so adorable because it was just a simple Walmart run,” the insider explained. There was a security guard with them, but he wasn’t looming around them or anything. They were just hanging out, laughing, and it looked like they were just joking around, which was really cute. Saint appeared to be very comfortable with Pete.”
The source continued, “They were playing with some of the toys in the back section of the store and just having fun together. Even though Pete was the adult, he seemed more like a big brother than a fatherly figure to Saint. He was acting like a big kid and just looked really happy.”
