The house was built in 1925 and was formerly known as the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The three-story structure features 26-foot high ceilings and three separate apartments.
According to Realtor.com, the building spanned 15,200 square feet and was previously an eight-dancer ballet company before it was made into a home in 2000.
“If they didn’t get there when they did, it could have been much worse. It’s a historic home,” the Carters’ spokesperson told The New York Post and also mentioned that there were no reported evacuations.
However, ABC WGNO reported that New Orleans police are currently investigating the fire as “simple arson” and that the department stated they “received a report of a suspicious person in the area around the time of the fire.”
There are no reported injuries from the fire.
