Fans Respond Online After Big Freedia Defended Boosie’s Homophobic Rant

The bounce artist is under fire for suggesting Boosie only has a problem with Lil Nas X.

Social media users are chiming in after Big Freedia seemingly defended Boosie’s homophobic tweet aimed at Lil Nas X. According to TMZ, the famed New Orleans bounce artist plainly stated earlier this week, “I don’t think Boosie is homophobic. I think he just has a problem with Lil Nas.”

Continuing that, she recently saw Boosie’s new film featuring portrayals of gay men. Big Freedia doubled down on her defense of the 38-year-old rapper,

saying, “He was upset. Ya know? When people get upset, they’ll say whatever’s on their mind and on their heart. But, ya know, they keep trolling each other. It’s wasted energy.”

The “Wipe Me Down” rapper controversially tweeted at Lil Nas X last week, calling the rising star a “f****t” and suggesting that him dying by suicide would “do this world a huge favor.” Twitter has since removed the post, citing that it violated its rules.

Now fans are turning their attention to Big Freedia, dragging her on social media for defending the fellow Louisiana native. “I hate that Big Freedia chose the Boosie hill to die on,” one person tweeted about her recent comments.

“Big Freedia is giving pick me at this point because how you gonna say someone who uses homophobic slurs isn’t homophobic because he has a movie with gay people?? It’s giving “I have three black friends,” another fan tweeted.

Thanking Big Freedia for her support while also acknowledging the heavy backlash, Boosie responded

on Twitter Thursday, “THANK U @bigfreedia N THOSE WHO WHO THINK I HATE GAYS R LOST but I’m go let y’all keep taking up for someone who says “F**K YOUR KIDS” SMH #sad #sad.”
