The internet slammed comedian Marlon Wayans for seemingly condemning the Black people at an Alabama boat dock who came to the defense of a Black security guard after a group of white people jumped him.
But commenters may have misconstrued his point.
The White Chicks actor posted only part of the video, showing the Black boaters whooping the audacious white people’s asses with Jason Aldean’s controversial “Try That In A Small Town” song attached. He then wrote in the caption, “How ’bout we NOT ‘try that in a small town’…S**t silly, bro… let’s all just be love NOT war.”

Commenters assumed he didn’t know the whole story and urged him to post the video of the security guard getting attacked, hoping it would change his stance. But it didn’t, and people didn’t take kindly to it.

“You act like you did us a favor by showing the whole story. You didn’t ‘STFU’ when you was screaming and crying about the airlines for weeks on end. Keep that same energy for this black man who needed protecting and got the support of a whole community. This was actually inspiring. You should be ready to help post bail for anyone arrested. I know I am.”

Malon even made a video stating commenters misinterpreted his initial post.

The A Haunted House star miscommunicated his point, but he reversed Aldean’s point made in “Try That In A Small Town” from the Black people’s perspective.
In other words, Aldean threatened Black Lives Matter rioters to “try that in a small town,” meaning riot and tear up stuff. Marlon used Aldean’s and his supporters’ words against them, encouraging both parties to demonstrate love.
He could’ve done it better.
On Saturday, Aug. 5, the white boaters were asked to move their boat for the Harriot to dock along the Alabama River. The white people refused and shouted profanity at the co-captains.
A co-captain then took a smaller vessel to the dock to convince the people, but things turned violent. Viral footage showed the white people attacking that one man, causing Black onlookers to come to his defense. One teen was applauded for jumping off the boat and swimming to the dock to interfere.
According to the Montgomery Police Department, 13 people were detained and released, but warrants have been made.
Richard Roberts, 48, is facing two counts of third-degree assault, as well as 23-year-old Allen Todd and 25-year-old Zachary Shipman. Montgomery Police are looking to speak with the man who used a folding chair to hit several of the attackers.
