Charlamagne tha God commented on Kanye West’s lyrics for his new single, “Eazy,” and called the singer out for his line about Pete Davidson.
During an episode of YouTube’s Spittle Me This with The Brilliant Idiots, Charlamagne tha God said that he thought West’s line about beating up Davidson was corny as hell.
“God saved me from that crash/Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”
The Breakfast Club host also said that he didn’t respect the line and called him out for leaving behind his spirituality to talk about beating people up.
“I thought Kanye’s bar to Pete was corny as hell,” said Charlamagne. “I thought it was corny. I didn’t like it…what happened to Jesus? What happened to God? You weren’t even cursing on your records and now all of a sudden you wanna beat up Pete Davidson?”
He referenced West’s previous comments on backpack rap while appearing on Drink Champs and called the rapper out for hypocrisy for using street rappers.
“I just thought the line was corny. For me, I think about what he said on Drink Champs when he said, he used all the backpackers,” he said. “Remember he was like ‘I used all the backpackers cause I never really liked backpack rap,’ and then you see him hanging out with like a lot of the street rappers now.”
“He’s hanging out with all these guys just to be able to say that line. You know what I mean? But I want all those street rappers to know, he’s using y’all too. But the difference is the street rappers aren’t going to be used. They gon keep they hand in Kanye West’s pockets cause wolves do not make good house pets, and Kanye West will learn that.”
Charlamagne also said he was tired of West’s drama altogether.
“Been tired of it,” he said.”
West has been in the news lately for drama due to his divorce from Kim Kardashian to his romance with Julia Fox. He is also demanding final editing approval for a new documentary about the singer being released on Netflix in February called jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, despite the first part already premiering at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 23.
