Aries Spears Responds To Lizzo’s 2022 VMAs Speech, Criticizes Her Women Supporters

The "MADTv" alum said he "almost wished" she said his name.

Veteran comedian Aries Spears has responded to Grammy Award-winning artist Lizzo’s VMAs speech and criticized the women supporting her.

Aries responded to Lizzo’s MTV VMAs speech via a VLAD TV interview that went live on Set. 2. During the interview, he said he knew the musician’s comments about her “haters” were aimed

at him.

“Well, the funny thing to me was people sent me those videos and clips, and you know, this is the internet,” Aries told host Vladimir Lyubovny. “People put shit together, ‘Lizzo claps back at Aries,’ she never said my name.”

He continued, saying he “almost wished,” she said his name to make her clap back “specific.”

“Now, was she talking about me? Put the pieces together. More than likely, but she never said my name and I ain’t the only motherf****r making Lizzo fat jokes. So, she was addressing all of her haters. I almost wish she did say my name to really make it specific, but she didn’t say my name! And you know what’s funny to me, too, ’cause you know, the women that hit me up in my Instagram was like ‘Yeah… I know you mad, huh? You punching the air!’ Why would I be [mad]?”

In an interview with The Art Of Dialogue on Aug. 25, the MADtv alum body-shamed Lizzo as he compared her to mashed potatoes and said she “looked like the s**t emoji.”

“I can’t get past the fact that she looks like the s**t emoji,” he said. “She’s got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off like, come on, man. Come on, yo.”

In the VLAD TV clip, Aries added that the women who ran to Lizzo’s defense live vicariously through her success. He said they think “Lizzo’s success is their success” and that she doesn’t pay their bills.

Ironically, he’s reportedly caught up in a scandal rocking the internet. As previously reported by Sis2Sis, Aries was recently hit with a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused minors. The suit also includes comedian Tiffany Haddish, whose lawyers called it a “shakedown.”
