R&B songstress Ari Lennox got candid with her X followers about her struggles with self-love and enjoying her successes on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
The “Up Late” singer acknowledged her desire to refrain from being a person to seek validation in every aspect of her life.
“I hate that I crave validation in every ounce of my life,” Lennox wrote. “It is truly a miserable existence. I hate that I wish I was cool. I’m embarrassing. I don’t know when I’ll ever start loving myself. I don’t know if it’s possible. I can’t even enjoy all that I’ve created for myself.”

Lennox continued in another post, “It’s painful reality to not be loved yet to crave it so bad in the most harmful places. To not be able [to] trust anyone. To want people around but to push them away simultaneously. It’s mental misery.”

Heartbroken over the “On It” singer’s confession, followers offered her words of encouragement in the comments.
“Ari, this breaks my heart. You’re truly exceptional [and] everything you’ve accomplished has been on your own merit. Your vulnerability is so appreciated — you’re not alone. I know you’ll be able to get to the root of these feelings [and] enjoy life on your own terms.”

“Well, you gotta start watching how you speak about yourself. Even if that’s how you feel, say the opposite.”

“It’s morbid, but what helps me is that no matter what happens in life, you’re going to die. Life isn’t for what we live but what we leave behind. In 50 years, someone will sing your song with pride and reverence. You’re doing a great job!”

“Sending you empowered energy and a lot of love. Affirm the opposite and call your energy back. You’re divine.”

“You are so cool, Ari! So appreciated and so necessary! When I listen to you, I feel powerful, sexy [and] soft! We love you.”

Back in March, Lennox took to the platform about how she felt she made herself “unattractive by wanting love so bad.”
“I wish I didn’t crave [love],” Lennox wrote in a since-deleted X post. “I wish it didn’t make me blind, weak, and so dangerously trusting. I wish I had no love inside of me. Wish I didn’t have emotions. Wish I didn’t care.”
