Jennifer Hudson is one award away from the esteemed EGOT title thanks to her recent Emmy win.
Hudson is a member of the team who won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program last Thursday, reported Entertainment Weekly. The award honored her work as an executive producer for Baba Yaga, a virtual reality fairytale created for Oculus Quest. She also worked as a voice actor on the film alongside Glenn Close, Kate Winslet and Daisy Ridley.
The Respect star celebrated the Emmy win on her Instagram page.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to lend my voice to a character and executive produce alongside this innovative team,” she wrote. “You all inspired me doing what you do best. Receiving an Emmy for this special project is truly the icing on the cake!”
The Emmy means Tony Award stands between Hudson and EGOT status, a designation for people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award.
In 2007, Hudson won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Effie White in Dreamgirls. She has won two Grammy awards, Best R&B album for her self-titled EP in 2008 and a statue for Best Musical Theater Album in 2016 for The Color Purple.
Hudson basked in her achievements with a stylish gold “EGO” ring.

“I’ve had this ring for quite some time! For me it always represented this day, the day I would say I have an EGO! Emmy, Grammy and Oscar,” she captioned a picture of the ring on Instagram. “What (an) early bday gift! U can’t limit God!!!! It’s only a story God could write and heights only God can top! U will always see me try! And I hope u will too!”
If Hudson wins a Tony, she’ll be the third Black person and second Black woman to become an EGOT. Whoopi Goldberg was the first Black person to receive the title in 2002, according to Black America Web. John Legend became the first Black male EGOT in 2018 when he won the Outstanding Live Variety Special for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, per People.
