According to TMZ, on Wednesday night, firefighters responded to a 1-alarm fire at Jay-Z and Beyonce’s home in the Garden District of New Orleans. The fire department reportedly received the call sometime in the early evening, and about two hours later, the fire was fully extinguished. The extent of the damages to the home is yet to be assessed. However, it took 22 firefighters to extinguish the fire.

In 2015, Sugarcane Park LLC reportedly bought the $2.6 million, 13,292-square-foot mansion named La Casa de Castile.

The LLC is managed by Celestine Lawson, Beyoncé’s mother, also known as Miss Tina, and is registered at a Sherman Oaks address where Bey has registered other LLCs.

The house was built in 1925 and was formerly known as the Westminster Presbyterian Church.

The three-story structure features 26-foot high ceilings and three separate apartments.

According to Realtor.com, the building spanned 15,200 square feet and was previously an eight-dancer ballet company before it was made into a home in 2000.

“If they didn’t get there when they did, it could have been much worse. It’s a historic home,” the Carters’ spokesperson told The New York Post and also mentioned that there were no reported evacuations.

However, ABC WGNO reported that New Orleans police are currently investigating the fire as “simple arson” and that the department stated they “received a report of a suspicious person in the area around the time of the fire.”
