Nick Cannon revealed that he wasn’t a fan of Red Table Talk after news broke of Facebook Watch shows being canceled. Cannon called Jada Pinkett-Smith’s show “toxic” on an April 27 episode of his AMP show, The Daily Cannon.
The subject was brought up by his co-host, comedian Courtney Bee. She announced the cancellation news to Cannon, and he quickly replied with his opinions on the show. He blamed the talk show for the infamous Oscar incident where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for making an insensitive joke about his wife at the 2022 Oscars.
“Good,” He began, “If there were no Red Table Talk, then he wouldn’t’ve slapped the s***out of Chris Rock!”
Third co-host and mother to multiple children of Nick Cannon’s, Abby De La Rosa pressed him further about his strong opinions. She asked, “Are you just talking about that situation?”
Cannon doubled down on his dislike for the Red Table Talk
“Too much honesty can get your a** slapped in the face! We’ve seen this. That table was toxic. They made all those memes about my brother Will on that damn table. They didn’t need to do that.”
Cannon continued to express his disappointment for how the show, in his opinion, changed the Smiths from being considered “royalty” to instead being made fun of and known for oversharing. Cannon explained, “They brought us to the table, like, ‘I don’t want to know all this s*** about y’all!’ Some stuff, I just want to mind my Black-owned business. I don’t want to be all up in everybody’s kitchen. Keep that s*** to yall selves!”
