South Florida’s Afro-Carib Festival Draws Crowds To Celebrate Black History And Reggae Month

The 3rd Annual Afro-Caribbean Festival in Miramar, FL was lit!

Over 5,000 people turned up at the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater on February 25, to celebrate Black History Month and Reggae Month with City of Miramar Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis. The event aimed to celebrate the common bonds of the African and Caribbean Diaspora in honor of Black History Month and Reggae Month.

The festival was poppin’ with performances from some of the hottest artists in the game. The festival’s highly anticipated headliner, Grammy-winning reggae sensation Koffee,  had the crowd hyped with hits like “Toast” and “Pull Up.”

Nigerian afro-pop artist Tekno brought the heat with his electric performance, while Haitian singer J. Perry kept the vibes going with his tropical tunes. R&B hitmaker Alexander Star had the crowd grooving to his beats, Canadian performer David Cairol made a splash and emerging artist Yung Wylin’ got everyone jumping with his energy.

But the music wasn’t the only thing that was fire at the festival. Throughout the festival, attendees enjoyed delicious food and merchandise from local vendors as well as the company of notable guests in the house like Jamaica Consul General Oliver Mair, Mayor Wayne Messam, and Miami radio personality Papa Keith. The event Keith of Miami’s 103.5 The Beat and TV personality Jody-Ann Gray.

Commissioner Davis expressed her gratitude towards everyone who made the event possible, including the performers and vendors, as well as the local officials who attended the event.

“This year’s Afro Carib Festival was a tremendous success,” Davis said. “The performances were stellar, and the food and merchandise from local vendors were a huge hit. Folks really enjoyed a great evening singing and dancing along to their favorite songs from Koffee, Tekno, and Jacob Forever. Yung Wylin’, Alexander Star and J. Perry also thrilled the crowd. What a way to celebrate Black History Month! Stay tuned as next year’s event will be even bigger and better!”
