The iconic hip-hop group Run-DMC has announced their final concert together.

Darryl “DMC” McDaniels broke the news during an interview with Rock the Bells, saying, “Run-DMC is over. The only way Run-DMC gets back together is if The Beatles get back together. Can that happen?”

He continued, “The final show that we are ever going to do is going to be at Madison Square Garden in April. It’s going to be the last episode of the documentary we’re doing. ‘Cause, it’s time for Run to go be Paul McCartney and me to be John Lennon. We done did what we could do.”

The group, which formed in the early 1980s, has significantly influenced the music industry and is widely considered one of the most important and influential hip-hop acts of all time. They were the first hip-hop group to be nominated for a Grammy and the first to earn a Gold record for Run-DMC and a Platinum record for King of Rock.

The group’s final concert is rumored to have big names in hip-hop, joining line Ice-T and Wu-Tang Clan.

“The show is going to be like The Last Waltz by The Band,” the 58-year-old continued. “We’re doing that movie idea. You’ll see Ice-T come and do a song with us. You’ll see Wu-Tang come do a song with us. Anybody can buy a ticket to the show.”

The documentary is set to be distributed to the highest bidder, with Netflix already on the docket.

“We’re gonna do it with Netflix or to the highest bidder,” he said. “It’s going to be a live production. Run-DMC’s doing The Last Waltz at Madison Square Garden. Who wants to pay $100 million to own it?”

The news of the final concert and documentary has been met with mixed emotions from fans, who are sad to see the group go but excited to have one last chance to see them perform live. Run-DMC has been a major force in the music industry, and its influence will be felt for years to come.
