Reality TV veteran and actress Tami Roman recently shared what happened when she tried to join The Real Housewives franchise.

During a recent episode of Carlos King’s Reality With The King podcast, Tami explained that when she approached The Real Housewives franchise, she was rejected–twice. The NYC native is widely known for starring on the hit VH1 reality show Basketball Wives for a decade, as she made her first appearance on the show in 2010. However, she exited the series midway through its eighth season in 2018.

“I tried to get on The Real Housewives two times, and both times they were like ‘Girl, go on somewhere, we don’t want you,” Tami revealed. She also shared that during her time on Basketball Wives, her friend-turned-enemy and former fellow cast member Evelyn Lozada tried to sabotage her behind the scenes.

“To sit at [the season seven] reunion and admit they [Evelyn] sent letters to production about me and my personal business that was a lie, started a train for me like ‘this is some bulls***t.’ Break me behind the scenes because I was just as successful as you in front of the camera,” the reality veteran told King.

Tami is currently the host and consulting producer of VH1’s Caught In The Act: Unfaithful, which first aired on July 18 and has been renewed for a second season. She previously starred on several BET shows, including The Ms. Pat Show, When Love Kills and Carl Webber’s The Family Business.

In 2021, the 52-year-old reunited with MTV’s The Real World: Los Angeles cast for The Real World Homecoming: Los Angeles on Paramount+. She joined the pioneering reality show for its second season back in 1993 after her co-worker suggested she audition for the franchise. At the time, she was working at an HIV healthcare center in West Hollywood and performing with an R&B girl group.
