Insecure actor Jay Ellis finally married his long-time girlfriend and Serbian model Nina Senicar.
Ellis married Senicar in an extravagant ceremony on July 9 in Tuscany, per Vogue Magazine, which covered the event. The couple finally wed after being in a five-year relationship. For the big day, the 40-year-old actor donned a custom Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo in bordeaux– to match their earth-toned color palette. The bride also rocked a stunning white Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown. Their 2-year-old daughter, Nora Grace, was the flower girl.
Ellis proposed to Senicar in Bali in January 2019. The sunset Tuscan wedding ceremony was to have initially occurred on the same day in 2020, but the pandemic affected the planning.
“At the time, Italy was one of the hardest hit areas in the world, on a strict lockdown and closed to tourists,” the Top Gun: Maverick star recalled. “Like everyone else in the world, we weren’t sure how widespread it would be or how long any of it would last, so we had to cancel everything.”
Ellis posted his wedding photo on Instagram and preemptively turned off the comments– as not to allow naysayers to detract from the couple’s special day in Tuscany.

Fans quickly observed the change to Ellis’ account and took to Twitter to discuss it. Some fans shared their dismay about the actor’s white wife– again, while others said people needed to get over it.

Although the actor and his model bride had been together since 2015, ever so often, Black Twitter would be up in arms at the “rediscovery” of Ellis’ vanilla bae. It’s time to move forward and let Ellis live his best life. Black women expressed feeling betrayed by another successful Black man’s expansion of his dating pool. Many fans, however, weren’t surprised that Ellis was down with the swirl.
In a 2017 interview with The Breakfast Club, Ellis spoke about his relationship with Senicar without mentioning her name.
“I am in a relationship. I’m in a very happy relationship, and that’s where I leave it. I don’t really worry about anything else, and that’s it. I think for me, we give so much of ourselves in what we do no matter what side of the industry we’re on, so for me…a relationship for me is probably the most important thing that I think two people can have.”
