Woman Labeled as ‘Prison Bae’ Goes Viral On Social Media

The internet has found another “Prison Bae.” An incarcerated woman had men swooning over her on the internet as she shared her prison photo over the Christmas holiday on Facebook.

On Saturday, Nyla Tomeka Murrell-French, 22, posted the photo on her Facebook account with the caption, “Merry Christmas from the Pretty Gangsta, #FreeMe #FreeNyla.”

By Tuesday, the post garnered more than 10,000 likes and over 4,600 shares, Yahoo! reported.

The photo quickly went viral as men on social media commented left and right, asking if they could post her bail or send money to her

commissary.

“HOW MANY PACK OF NOODLES YOU NEED? I got you ma,” said one user on Instagram.

“What’s her cashapp I’m trying to make sure she eat good in there, said one Facebook user.

“Baby, we about to get you a better lawyer I gotta get you home,” one person replied.

Another one said, “It’s okay bby… we can get thru this together.”

“She can stab me while I’m sleeping!”

Murrell-French is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility – Shakopee for stabbing a girl, 17, during an altercation at St. Paul, Minn. gas station in April 2019, according to Twin Cities Pioneer PressThe victim suffered life-threatening injuries after the incident, including a “collapsed lung and injuries to her jugular,” in addition to nerve damage.

Though this wasn’t the first time ‘prison bae’ had run-ins with the law, she had nine theft charges months before her assault case. As a result, a Minnesota judge convicted the then 19-year-old on one count of first-degree assault. After the verdict was read, Murrell-French allegedly told the courtroom that she was “very remorseful for the mistake” she made.

“I apologize,” she added.

While there were many comments from male suitors captivated by Murrell-French’s good looks, others said she shouldn’t be glamorizing criminal behavior.

“It’s the simple fact you glorifying what you did pretty gangsta?” wrote Tasha Inez on Facebook. “Ain’t nothing gangsta about what you did then bragging online. Kids never learn.” While another user named Queen Rickia wrote, “Stop glamorizing this ratchet behavior… It’s sad. Not gangsta.”

Murrell-French isn’t the only convict to go viral for being attractive. In 2014, former felon and Crip gang member Jeremy Meeks’ mugshot went viral. After he was released from jail, Meeks went on to have a lucrative modeling career and is now acting in low-budget films.
