Wendy Williams Ticks Off Twitter With Coverage Of Tik Tok Star’s Death

Her tone was not the wisest when reporting a death.

Wendy Williams is back in the news. Earlier this week, she offended a significant amount of people on social media during a segment in which she talked about the death of Tik Tok star, Swavy.

Williams, who is not known for being generous when it comes to her opinions, first asked the audience if they knew Swavy and then mentioned him having

more Tik Tok followers than she did. A member of her staff, who was off-stage, chimed in to note that the internet star did not have more Instagram followers than her.

“I have no idea who this person is. Neither does one person in this building,” Williams said with pursed lips a la Miranda Priestley.

On its face, it was normal Wendy Williams shade. That is until she eyeballed the photo of Swavy in an up-and-down manner and then announced that he had died.

After expressing some amount of pity, Williams then said, “all those followers.”

Of course, social media was offended at the perceived callousness that Wendy Williams handled reporting Swavy’s death. Many people have called for her show to be canceled.

The #cancelwendywilliams hashtag took off, and many of the tweets from the offended public were so explicit, we cannot post them here. Needless to say, it sounded like many people are just too tired of Wendy Williams.

There was one tweeter who not only wanted Wendy Williams canceled but wanted an accounting of the audience members who laughed.

Although most people probably recognized Williams’ shade-casm for what it was, there are times to turn it off and announcing someone’s death is one of those times.

The Wendy Williams Show has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
