Wendy Williams Diagnosed With COVID, Season Premier Postponed

This adds to the host's list of health problems.

Wendy Williams has had another stroke of bad luck in her health. The television host was diagnosed with  COVID-19 while being treated for her other illnesses causing production on her show’s new season to be postponed.

The Wendy Williams Show is now postponed for at least two weeks while its host focuses on recuperating from her ongoing illnesses and now, the coronavirus, reported USA Today.

A little less than a week ago, the show announced that Williams, 57, would not be able to complete some of her promotional obligations due to illnesses that had beset her. At the time, the controversial host was to be evaluated for her health issues but was still expected to be back on set on Sept. 20.

However, in the treatment and evaluation of other problems, Williams had a positive COVID test.

“While continuing her health evaluations, Wendy has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19,” the post read.

The 13th season of her show is now expected to begin on Oct. 4, and the network will air reruns until then.

Earlier this year, Williams received lots of support from her fans after talking about several diagnoses that have caused her months of pain, including Graves’ disease and lymphedema, which causes massive swelling in her lower limbs.

At the time, Williams seemed upbeat while letting her fans know that her disease “is not curable but only manageable.”

The CDC has shown that the effectiveness of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have declined in New York, where Williams lives, with the delta being the most predominant.

While the agency still maintains that even breakthrough cases are rare, immunocompromised individuals, such as Williams, are

more likely to experience post-vaccine infection. They also distinguish between infection and disease. It is not known which Williams has, but she is quarantining.

Hopefully, things will improve for her soon.
