Vivica A. Fox Gives Update On Regina King Following The Death Of Her Son Ian Alexander Jr.

Fox said King is okay considering the circumstances and surrounded by love.

Vivica A. Fox understandably sobbed as she described her visit with actress Regina King following the death of her son, Ian Alexander Jr. Fox spoke about the visit on an episode of the Cocktails with Queens podcast on Jan. 24.

Fox noted that she hasn’t been able to stop crying since she heard the news of Alexander’s death, which was reportedly

by suicide. She tearfully recounted her visit with King to comfort her following the tragic news.

“I was with Regina last night and she’s OK,” said Fox. “I was able to hug her… I just had to go see my friend, my sister. On the way there I had to call and ask people, ‘What do you say? I’m scared. I don’t want to say something wrong.'”

The actress went on to say that King was doing okay considering and that she was surrounded by love as she grieves for her only son, especially by the Black community in Hollywood.

“She said to tell everybody that she’s gotten ya’ll’s texts,” said Fox. “The outpouring of love for her, her family, her son, she appreciates it…. She’s surrounded by so much love, y’all. That was the beautiful thing, that when I got there, our community is right there for her. If you never, ever thought that the African American actresses, actors and talent supports and loves each other, I saw it last night.”

Alexander was King’s only son and died just after his 26th birthday. Fox also asked viewers to be mindful of those around them and make sure they are okay while noting that the pandemic has taken a toll on us all.

“I just pray that what we do more than anything else for our sons, for our children. COVID and everything has got everybody in a dark spot, in a dark place. If you see any signs, any signs of someone being in distress, or if somebody reaches out to you that’s just not having a good day, stop, take a moment to make sure that they’re OK.”
