VIDEO: Singer Chlöe Covers Minnie Riperton’s ‘Lovin’ You’

Fans had mixed reactions to the sexy rendition.

Fans joked singer Chlöe’s sexy rendition of Minnie Riperton’s hit song “Lovin’ You” may have been too sexual after the singer dropped her version on Twitter on Jan. 24. The singer received mixed reactions for her excellent vocal range and sexy performance.

Chlöe covered the song while seated in front of a microphone wearing a purple dress. The songstress did the song justice and hit the high note the song was famous for. Many fans loved the rendition and complimented the singer on her acting chops.

Others had jokes, while some were surprised by the sexy rendition and commented on the singer’s gyrating.

“Chloe be lookin like she ready to f*ck the song,” said one Twitter user.

The singer took to Twitter to comment on the negative feedback and aptly noted that nobody could criticize her singing.

“I like how you can’t criticize my singing or who i am as an artist,” she wrote. “So people find something else to find  that’s a compliment.”

The singer previously spoke out about being shamed on social media. She said her feelings were hurt by cyberbullying and claimed she was trying to be sexy for attention. After performing a sexy version of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good at a Juneteenth broadcast, Chlöe was also criticized for an oversexualized performance.

“I think there was a collective of them and I can’t sit here and lie and say, ‘Oh, I’m bulletproof, nothing hurt me,’ because it honestly did,” she said. “And I think what hurt me the most was when I would see some post saying how I’m doing this for male attention, or I’m just trying to sell sex to get attention for myself.”

Riperton, who died of breast cancer on July 12, 1979, is the mother of Saturday Night Live actress and

comedienne Maya Rudolph.
