Uzo Aduba Is Pregnant

Aduba and Robert Sweeting were married in a private ceremony in 2020.

Uzo Aduba, who was nominated for a Tony Award last year for her performance in the play Clyde’s, made a surprise appearance at the awards ceremony in New York on June 11 and revealed she is pregnant and sporting a baby bump.

The 42-year-old broke the news to the media on the red carpet, cradling her growing baby bump in a bright orange Christian Siriano outfit.

“What a blessing. My husband Robert and I are so happy to enter this next chapter together as parents. I am beyond excited. I get to be someone’s Mommy! I know as the three of us continue to grow, our only, ONLY goal will be to love you, little one. My goodness. Look what God has done,” she wrote on Instagram.

Aduba is best known for her work on “Orange is the New Black” and “Mrs. America,” and will welcome the baby with her husband, director Robert Sweeting.

The unborn child will be a first for the couple.

According to People Magazine, Aduba and Sweeting were married in a private ceremony in 2020, but word of their union only spread after she shared another Instagram image from their wedding day in September 2021.

“For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone. My heart, my love — I’m so happy my life started last year with you,” she shared. “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Aduba’s schedule includes upcoming performing roles in “Painkiller,” “Providence,” “Clybourne Park,” “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat,” and “The Residence” in addition to getting ready for the new baby.
