Tina Turner, Jay-Z And More To Be Inducted Into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

The "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" has finally received her flowers from the Hall of Fame.

On Wednesday, the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2021’s class of artists set to be inducted this fall. Among the list of recognized musicians are LL Cool J, Tina Tuner and Jay-Z.

In the “Performer Category,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honored Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z, Carole King, Todd Rungren and Tina Turner.

As CNN reports, inductees must have a catalog of at least 25 years, making this the first year for some of the musicians to receive a nomination. Jay-Z is one such artist whose debut album

Reasonable Doubt dropped in the summer of 1996.

Fans are also excited about Turner’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Often referred to as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the singer-songwriter had hits and longevity within the genre.

Though she was inducted alongside ex-husband Ike Turner in 1991, fans rallied to get her solo music recognized. Now the “What’s Love Got To Do With It” dancing diva can receive the honor she rightfully deserved.

Known for his 1971 hit “Home Is Where The Hatred Is” and spoken word performances, soul musician Gil Scott-Heron will receive the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Early Influencer Award. Also honored with the award are German band Kraftwerk and blues musician Charley Patton.

In the “Musical Excellence” category, “I Need Love” rapper LL Cool J was chosen as an inductee along with late R&B singer Billy Preston and late heavy metal guitarist Randy Rhoads. Clarence Avant, a Black music executive, will be honored with an Ahmet Ertegun Award at the October ceremony.

In 1987, the award honored “non-performing industry professionals” who’ve impacted the industry.

The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will occur in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 30, 2021. The celebrity-filled event is set to air on HBO and later HBO Max.
