The Wendy Williams Show’s Ratings Skyrocket With Sherri Shepherd As Its Host

Fans want Shepherd as a permanent host.

During the week of November 7, The Wendy Williams Show reached its highest ratings for the season, with Sherri Shepherd as its host.

According to The Wrap, when Shepherd guest hosted, the show reached a 0.9 rating, which is a notable increase from the show’s season premiere week which left it at a 0.8 rating. Shepard’s host week has been the highest ratings since the show began on October 18.

As previously reported, season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show was pushed back multiple times, beginning with Williams being diagnosed with COVID-19 and other nonspecified medical issues.

On October 12, the show posted a statement to Instagram saying that Williams’ ailments were a “direct result of Graves’ disease and her thyroid condition.”

In an updated post last week, Williams told fans she has been “making progress” but added that her doctors are not ready to give her clearance to make her big debut back on TV.

“HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress, but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected,” Williams wrote in a statement posted to Instagram.

“I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready.”

She continued: “I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there. I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back. Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel all the love! You are everything to me. I love spending my mornings with you all, and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now, Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching.”
