Tamara Turner And Silver Spoon Desserts Signs Deal With American Airlines

Her miniature bundt cakes are served in first class.

Tamara Turner, a former BBQ restaurant manager, started a dessert business, Silver Spoon Desserts. She now has a deal with American Airlines to carry her miniature bundt cakes.

Turner described her company to Forbes as a “premium and indulgent dessert company specializing in miniature bundt cakes.”

Her cakes are carried in first-class on all America Airlines flights longer than two hours.

On Silver Spoon Desserts’ website, Turner revealed the idea to make cakes began one day in January 2017 as she pondered her life’s path.

“Since January 2017 I had been pondering, ‘What am I supposed to do with my life?’ The answer came at 4:30 a.m. on July 25, 2017,'” she wrote. “As the reassuring voice of God whispered to me, ‘Do the cakes first!'”

The single mother of four began her dessert company by packaging her miniature bundt cakes and selling them by going door-to-door. She also presented her desserts to restaurants, food-service companies, sports teams — and airlines.

Turner officially began her company in April of 2018 after winning $2500 at the Women’s Business Center Entrepreneurial Business Plan Pitch Competition. She launched the company at the Music Entrepreneurship Conference at Harvard University.

After landing her deal with American Airlines, she said she went from making 500 miniature bundt

cakes to 100,000 and being featured in Forbes magazine.

Her company specializes in making desserts for the B2B industry, food-service companies and special events, in addition to her partnership with American Airlines.

“We elevate the guest experience by providing high-end desserts for restaurants, hotels, casinos, airlines, and corporate buying teams around the globe.”

Turner’s company also specializes in miniature-sized cupcakes, cake pops and other miniature treats in addition to her tiny bundt cakes.
