SZA Interrupts Ashanti’s Interview to Fawn Over Her

We understand, Sza!

During an interview of JaRule and Ashanti at the MTV Video Music Awards, singer and songwriter SZA interrupted the Q&A to let Ashanti know just how much she means to her.

Ashanti and JaRule were in the right smack in the middle of an interview with Entertainment Weekly when SZA was walking by with her team and couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to share a touching memory.

Ashanti shared a clip from the moment which featured the two singers in a warm embrace.

She captioned the video, “This was such an incredible moment last night. We don’t see enough women empowerment. Women camaraderie… Women showing women love. The perception is that women are so “Catty”…. This genuinely made my heart smile, and I can’t lie. It made me a lil emotional…lol… @sza, you are beautiful with a beautiful soul inside and out… and your Talent is Amazing. I love u too. I’m a big fan as well.”

SZA told Ashanti that she waited for more than 10 hours in line to get Ashanti’s autograph when she was a teenager. She ended the recap by telling the “Foolish” singer that she would’ve waited however long it took to see her.

SZA said, “I was about 12 or 13, and I waited like ten and half hours in line to get your autograph on a special book.”

“It was so amazing; I would’ve waited a million years for you for the rest of my life. You’re so perfect, you’ve been perfect like my whole life, I don’t know what you’re doing!” the Good Days singer said.

Ashanti replied to her, saying, “You are so amazing; you make me feel so amazing.”

Amidst the emotional exchange, SZA made sure to give Ja Rule his accolades, telling the rapper that he changed her life as well.
