Supermodel Naomi Campbell Speaks On Being A New Mom With British Vogue

Campbell has an adorable baby girl.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell spoke with British Vogue recently about motherhood and becoming a new mom at 50-years-old. Campbell, 51, became a mother in 2021.

Campbell has been mum about the details surrounding her daughter’s birth. She would only admit to the child being her biological child while noting that her daughter was not adopted.

“She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child,” Campbell told British Vogue.

The new mom also refused to share her daughter’s name. However, she is writing a new memoir and is saving the details surrounding her daughter’s birth for the book.

The supermodel told the outlet that only a few people knew she was planning to have a child and said she was lucky to have her daughter.

“I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her,” said Campbell. “But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done….I always knew that one day I would be a mother, but it’s the biggest joy I could ever imagine. I’m lucky to have her and I know that.”

“I’m like a kid again. I’m reliving nursery rhymes, playing and discovering how many great new toys there are out there in the world! And dolls! Things I couldn’t even dream of.”

Campbell is also an activist and became a global ambassador for The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust last September, where her role will be promoting Trust’s work and fundraising. Campbell is also a supporter of Black Lives Matter. While speaking about her work ethic, she noted a conversation she once had with Nelson Mandela.

“[Nelson] Mandela said something to me once that has always stayed with me,” said Campbell. “He said, ‘We will sleep when we’re gone’ and while I have breath and energy I will do the work.’”

However, Campbell said her child comes first in her life, and she brings her with her everywhere she goes.

“My daughter comes first,” said Campbell. “Everything I do, I do for her – that’s it. It’s so completely selfless, isn’t it?’

The March issue of British Vogue will be on newsstands on Feb. 22.
