Soulja Boy Pleads With Judge To Reconsider Damages Owed To His Ex

The rapper allegedly was ordered to pay his ex Kayla Myers over $250,000 in punitive damages.

According to reports obtained by Radar Online, Soulja Boy is pleading with judges to reconsider the damages he owes to his ex Kayla Myers. The “Crank That” rapper has been ordered to pay Myers over $250,000, but Soulja claims he can’t afford it because he reportedly owes $1 million to the Internal Revenue Service.

The 32-year-old begged for the judge presiding over his case to reconsider his lawsuit decision against Myers. A jury found Soulja liable for an assault against Myers, his ex was awarded $236,000 in damages, and then he was ordered to pay an additional quarter of a million dollars in punitive damages.

The rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, argued that the judge made his decision based on outdated financial information. He’s requesting they overturn the ruling for the punitive damages because he’s in debt to the IRS.

The court documents stated

that he admitted having made “millions” at the beginning of his music career in 2007. Still, he said that now he only makes money from his shows and other marketing and that the amount he earns from that isn’t enough to maintain his current lifestyle in his business. For example, Soulja said that he makes “$10,000 – $50,000” per show but doesn’t pay the full amount. He explained that he splits that amount with his security, performance team, and transportation.

He added that he suffered a significant loss of revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that he had a large number of shows that were canceled because of the virus.

Soulja added that he doesn’t have any more assets to liquidate for more money. He said that he doesn’t own his home, and he has two old cars and some jewelry to his name.
