Sonja Norwood Sued The Kardashians For Spending Over $120K On Her Credit Card

Brandy's momager sued the Kardashians in 2008 for unauthorized use of her credit card.

Fans everywhere are clutching their pearls after learning that Brandy’s mom and manager, Sonja Norwood, took the Kardashians to court back in 2008. She claimed in the original lawsuit that Kim Kardashian was a stylist for Brandy, and had access to Norwood’s credit cards for job purposes. However, she, along with Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Robert Kardashian Jr., allegedly ran up over $120,000 on items for themselves.

In a statement obtained by TMZ, Norwood

said “I did not want to commence litigation against the Kardashian family without conducting an exhaustive investigation into the charges and discussing all options, including criminal prosecution, with my family,”

Kardashian was romantically involved with Brandy’s brother and Norwood’s son, Ray J, around the time. The two created an infamous sex tape that was released to the public one year before Norwood’s suit.

Working as Brandy’s stylist since 2004, she and her siblings allegedly spent over $62,000 in unauthorized charges in 2006, according to TMZ. The following year, the family continued their habit, charging nearly $58,000 to Norwood’s credit card without her permission.

The high-profile family released a statement themselves to TMZ, saying “The charges against the Kardashians are meritless. Both Kim and Khloe were employed by the Norwoods and never used their credit cards without their express authorization. The Kardashian family looks forward to proving the absurdity of these claims in a court of law.”

However, Norwood claimed that they not only copped to the credit card charges but also told her they’d pay it back in full. In June 2009, Norwood asked for the lawsuit to be “dismissed with prejudice,” which possibly means the case was settled outside of court.
