‘SNL’ Alum Chris Redd Attacked And Robbed Outside New York Comedy Club Before Scheduled Performance

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for his injuries and released.

Comedian Chris Redd was assaulted and robbed outside a New York comedy club where he was set to perform on Wednesday night.

TMZ reported that the alleged robber clocked the 37-year-old Saturday Night Live alum after he exited his car to go into the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan. The unknown assailant was dressed like a security guard. The perpetrator jacked Redd’s Greg Yuna chain and left him with a bloody nose. Police were called, but the robber had already fled the scene by the time cops arrived.

The news outlet captured the bloody aftermath on video. The scene had blood on the steps and sidewalk.

Redd was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for a serious cut on his nose.

In September, news dropped that Redd and former castmate SNL Kenan Thompson’s estranged wife Evangeline were dating. The 33-year-old woman and the comedian had reportedly been dating for a year. Thompson didn’t appear to have any beef with the new union.

“We’re told Kenan’s aware of his ex’s romance with Chris and has no hard feelings – he’s apparently moved on and is happily dating other people.”

Thompson and Evangeline are also still friends.

Redd is currently set to star in a new special titled Why Am I Like This?  on HBO Max. It will air on November 3.
