Serena Williams Kept Baby No. 2 A Secret From Daughter Olympia

Williams told Olympia once she and her husband left for The Met Gala.

Serena Williams kept her pregnancy a secret from her own 5-year-old daughter, Olympia, before she announced it at the 2023 Met Gala in New York City with husband, Alexis Ohanian.

An adorable video on Instagram shows Williams hid the fact she was pregnant from Olympia, who going to be a big sister, because did not want to ruin the big reveal at the Met Gala.

“Olympia does not know right now that I am pregnant, so the big reveal will be at the Met, and then before we leave, I’ll tell Olympia,” Williams said in the video. “The reason I haven’t told her is because she can’t keep a secret.”

As previously reported, Williams’ appearance is the first unveiling of her baby bump with her husband by her side.

A clue that Williams was pregnant was her larger than normal appearance, but an obvious clue was when being interviewed by La La Anthony at the Met Gala, Williams included her unborn baby as a guest.

“There’s three of us here,” the Gucci-clad mother told Vogue host La La Anthony at the Met Gala. “I’m feeling good. I can breathe. I can stop. I’m not hiding.”

Williams captioned her Instagram photos, telling the world there are people in her photos, including her husband, the baby and herself, People reported, “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.”

People noted that while William receives “a lot of support” in raising Olympia, she is described as an “incredibly hands-on mother.”

“In five years, Olympia has only spent one 24-hour period away from me. This past year, while I was recovering from a hamstring injury, I got to pick her up from school four or five days a week, and I always looked forward to seeing her face light up when she walked out of the building and saw me waiting there for her,” Williams, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, said. “The fact is that nothing is a sacrifice for me when it comes to Olympia.”
