R&B Group Xscape To Receive Soul Train’s 2022 Lady of Soul Award

The award ceremony will take place November 27 on BET.

R&B quartet Xscape is set to receive the Lady of Soul award at the 2022 Soul Train Awards on BET on November 27 at 8 p.m. Hosted by comedian and actor Deon Cole, Kandi Burruss-Tucker, Tameka’ Tiny’ Harris, LaTocha, and Tamika Scott will be presented the award.

“Xscape is one of the most notable R&B supergroups of all time,” Connie Orlando – who presides over music programming and music strategy – said in a released statement about the group, “Their powerful vocal harmonies laid the foundation for ’90s R&B and some of today’s chart-topping hits. Their sound is undeniably unique and masterful. We look forward to honoring these multi-talented artists collectively on R&B’s biggest stage, Soul Train Awards.” Orlando praised.

The members of the iconic singing group opened up about how honored they were to be able to be recognized by Soul Train.

“Given how important Soul Train is to all of us, we’re so thankful to be honored with the ‘Lady of Soul’ Award this year,” the group expressed, “It’s going to be an amazing night, and we can’t wait to see you all there.”

According to BET, Xscape was one of the most prolific female R&B groups in an era of plenty populating the genre. With six top 10 hits in the 1990s and three albums that went platinum back to back, Xscape has household hits like “Understanding,” “Who Can I Run To?,” “The Arms of the One Who Loves You,” and “My Little Secret.”

Their best albums, “Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha,” “Off the Hook, and “Traces of My Lipstick,” were featured in BET’s musical commemoration of the group on October 28.

The alum of recipients for the Lady of Soul award is established and impressive. Aside from Xscape and another group, SWV, every other artist awarded was a soloist. Last year’s recipient was Ashanti, and others before her were the likes of Monica, Jill Scott, Brandy, and Faith Evans.
