Rapper Kodak Black Arrested in Florida On Possession and Trafficking Oxycodone Charges

Arresting officers also said that both his liscence and registation were expired.

Rapper Kodak Black was arrested in South Florida for allegedly trafficking oxycodone and possession on July 15.

According to the Miami Herald, Kodak, born Bill Kapri, was pulled over in a purple Dodge Durango in Fort Lauderdale on Friday afternoon. Police reportedly pulled Kapri over for his window tints “appeared to be darker than the legal limit.” Upon getting closer, police officers were able to see that the registration tag was also expired.

As officers approached the rapper’s vehicle, they said, “they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and eventually searched the car.” TMZ reported. Their search revealed a bag of 31 white tablets – later identified as oxycodone – and almost $75,000 in cash. Kapri’s license was also expired, according to arresting officers. He was taken into custody at that point.

The “Super Gremlin” emcee was taken to Broward County jail.

Following the incident, Capri’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, took to Twitter to inform fans about the state of his holding.

Never judge a case based on an arrest. There are always additional facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case. We will get him a bond today and move forward with resolving the matter quickly,” Cohen wrote, hashtagging his client’s name.

He kept his word too. Later in the day, onlookers watched Capri be released on bond.

“Rapper Kodak Black is a free man after bonding out of jail Saturday, following his latest arrest. The 25-year-old was booked in #FtLauderdale on charges of Drug Trafficking & Possession of a Controlled Substance w/o a prescription.

#KodakBlack #BillKapri,” A Twitter post surfaced, accompanied by a video of Kapri’s release.

In the video, a reporter attempted to get a comment from the rapper, asking if he had anything to say to his fans and about the pills found in his car. He declined to answer.
