Rapper Fetty Wap Sentenced To Six Years In Prison For Drug Trafficking

A Central Islip, New York, federal court sentenced rapper Fetty Wap (né Willie Junior Maxwell II) to six years in prison on Wednesday for conspiracy to allot cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of New York, reported.

In addition to his six-year imprisonment sentence, the “Trap Queen” hitmaker will face five years of post-release supervision.

The rapper pleaded guilty in August 2022 to avoid a life sentence. As Sis2Sis

, Fetty Wap and defendants 25-year-old Anthony Cyntje, 49-year-old Anthony Leonardi, 28-year-old Robert Leonardi, 27-year-old Brian Sullivan and 28-year-old Kavaugn “KV” L. Wiggins, were arrested for distributing “more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine across Long Island and New Jersey.”

The District’s Attorney’s office claimed through USPS vehicles with hidden compartments and drivers. All six managed to deliver narcotics from the west coast to the east coast.

Fetty Wap was reportedly a kilogram-level redistributor. After an investigation and search, police found $1.5 million cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine and 2 KG of heroin, fentanyl pills and multiple guns. 

In the courtroom, Fetty Wap apologized to his family and the community.

“I hurt my community, people who look up to me, my family and myself,” he said. “I am truly sorry for any pain I caused…in due time, the Long Island and New Jersey communities will forgive me for my actions…”

Judge Joanna Seybert kept it real with the rapper and told him, “Despite your background and all you overcame, you threw it all away.” 

During the trial, prosecutors argued that the rapper “idealized” the drug business through his lyrics, according to NBC. They also reminded the drug that he violated his terms of release when he threatened to kill someone over a FaceTime call. The judge agreed that he should’ve hung up the phone. Instead, the call earned him another year in prison. 

Co-defendant Cyntje, a New Jersey correction officer, also received a six-year sentence.
