Rapper And Singer Buddy Recalls Wise Words The Late Nipsey Hussle Shared With Him

"...learn anything and everything you can, anything that interests you," Buddy recalled Nipsey telling him.

Rapper Buddy (real name Simmie Sims III) recently spoke about his friendship with the late rapper Nipsey Hussle (Ermias Joseph Asghedom) and shared the wise words the “Double Up” rapper told him.

In a clip posted on the Neighborhood Talk, Buddy spilled Nipsey’s advice before his death in an interview with Power 96 in February 2022.

“He kind of led by example,” Buddy said of his friend, Nipsey. ” So, like, I would walk in certain days, and it’d be books on the table with a documentary playing like deep conversations being had. I mean…just learning. He’s like the craziest, most in-depth thing. I think I ever took away was him to learn something, ‘cuz. It’s never too late to learn.”

But it continued talking about how Nipsey was all about expanding the mind.

“Just expand the mind and just know stuff, you know. He had a book list, for sure. And, yeah, just learn anything and everything you can, anything that interests you. Just know about it fully,” the “Trouble on Central” rapper said.

Buddy is a Compton rapper and singer who has worked alongside artists like Chance the Rapper, Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, Kaytranada, Miley Cyrus, Nipsey and more.

He and the late rapper worked on collaborated and birthed their dope 2018 track, “Status Symbol 3,” a part of the “Victory Lap” album.

Buddy has spoken about the “Hussle & Motivate” rapper’s intellect in a 2021 interview with SiriusXM. He said being in the studio with Nipsey comprised of watching documentaries, reading books and working on music.

Nipsey died on March 19, 2019, due to gun violence. Two months later, Buddy did an interview with Mr. Peter Parker, a DJ from Go 96.3 FM, about the longevity of the Grammy-winning icon.

“He’s a legend,” Buddy said. “I mean, he just gave so many people so much time that he didn’t have to…was self-educated…self-employed. That’s my friend, man.”
