R. Kelly And Joycelyn Savage Are Engaged Amid His Legal Troubles, Her Family Isn’t Buying It

Sticking her neck out for her man, Joycelyn Savage revealed in her pleading letter to R. Kelly’s judge that she and the R&B singer are engaged by referring to herself as his “b.” It’s not specified when she penned the letter, but it happened before Judge Ann Donnelly slapped him with a 30-year sentence.

On June 29, Judge Donnelly sentenced the “Ignition” singer to 30 years in prison in Brooklyn for racketeering and eight counts of sex trafficking. He has another pending trial in Chicago for his child pornography and obstruction of justice charges.

Before his hefty sentence, Savage wrote a one-page letter, obtained by All Hip Hop, asking the judge for leniency in sentencing her beau and claimed that she’s “not the victim that the government has portrayed” her to be, attempting to illustrate R. Kelly as a decent human being.

“My relationship with Robert is amazing,” the letter read. “He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We have a very special connection and are deeply in love. I still support Robert to this day because I love him and will always be here to support him. Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind. At the end of the day, he has always made sure that I’m taken care of and any other women he was with as well.”

“Robert’s an all-around incredible person,” she continued in the letter. “He loves his music and is very passionate about that. He’s positive, outgoing, and very generous. He always takes any opportunity he can to help those in need. He’s very determined and focused on his goals, and the things that have been said about him, with me and other women being held against our will is absolutely untrue. It’s the complete opposite of who he is and what my relationship is like with Robert.”

She blabbed on about how she was hurt that the government made her seem like the victim, claiming she’s a “grown woman” able to speak for herself. She asked if the court could take her words into consideration during R. Kelly’s sentencing.

She wasn’t persuading enough.

Gerald Griggs, Savage’s lawyer, told TMZ that Savage didn’t inform her family about her engagement, adding he found it odd she didn’t say anything about the engagement in court under oath but mentioned it in a letter to Judge Donnelly. TMZ reported that Savage’s family has doubts about the engagement but wants to reconnect with Savage to see what’s going on.
