Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Faces House Arrest After Online Spat With Offset

Kenneth Petty, the husband of superstar rapper Nicki Minaj, has found himself in a precarious legal situation following an online altercation with Offset, the husband of Minaj’s former rival, Cardi B. Petty’s actions have led to a court-ordered 120 days of home detention.

The recent conflict unfolded when Petty posted video clips on social media that appeared to contain threats directed at Offset. These clips, filled with explicit language, featured Petty and two other individuals on a New York City sidewalk repeatedly mentioning Offset. At one point, Petty was recorded saying, “You plan that vacation, you’ll be planning your funeral.”

This legal action comes after Petty’s previous conviction for failing to register as a sex offender in California. In September 2021, Petty pleaded guilty to the charges and was subsequently sentenced to a combination of in-home confinement, probation, and fines. U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald handed down a sentence of three years of probation, one year of home confinement, and a $55,000 fine.

Petty’s sex offender registration stems from a 1994 incident in which he was charged with first-degree rape for an alleged assault on a 16-year-old girl. He ultimately pleaded guilty to attempted rape, serving over four years in prison and being ordered to register as a sex offender.

In November 2019, Petty encountered further legal trouble when law enforcement discovered that he had failed to register as a sex offender in California after relocating from New York. This discovery led to an indictment in March 2020 for failing to register, after which Petty surrendered himself. He was released on a $20,000 bond at the time.

Nicki Minaj, who married Kenneth Petty in October 2019, has consistently defended her husband against social media criticism. The couple also welcomed their almost two-year-old son, affectionately referred to as Papa Bear, into the world.

The feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B is well-documented and dates back to 2018 when Cardi B physically confronted Minaj at the Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates ICONS event during New York Fashion Week. The altercation saw Cardi B attempting to “kick and punch” Minaj, with Minaj’s security team intervening to separate the two. Cardi B later claimed that Minaj had made derogatory comments about her newborn daughter, Kulture, on social media.

Minaj vehemently denied these allegations on her Queen Radio show, stating, “I didn’t say or never did talk about anyone’s child… I am not a clown, that’s clown s**t.” Despite their feud, both artists recently attended the MTV Video Music Awards, with Minaj serving as the host of the event.

In response to Kenneth Petty’s recent legal troubles, Offset posted a video of himself laughing outside a private jet, seemingly unfazed by the situation.

Kenneth Petty’s probation violation and subsequent house arrest highlight the consequences of online conflicts in the world of celebrity. While these disputes may play out in public, they can result in legal repercussions, as demonstrated by Petty’s case. The ongoing feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B adds another layer of complexity to this story, further fueling public interest in the drama.
