Nicki Minaj Throws Shade At Kanye West During Performance At Essence Fest

Time to move on, Onika!

Many social media users have had enough of Mrs. Petty being petty.

Nicki Minaj performed at the Essence Festival Friday, July 1, and included “Monster” by Kanye West, featuring herself, Bon Iver, Jay-Z and Rick Ross in her setlist, which followed a 20-second visitation to “Bedrock” by Young Money. When “Monster” started, the “Moment For Life” rapper shut it down immediately.

“Hold on…I’m ‘Monster’d out…and we don’t f**k with clowns,” she told the crowd with a smile.

She then proceeded to the next song, surprising

the audience with Birdman.

The moment surfaced all over the internet with people commenting their thoughts on Minaj’s clear diss to West.

In a clip of Minaj’s savage moment posted by the Jasmine Brand on Instagram, commenters seemed to have disagreed with the rapper’s actions.

“She could’ve let that part out. She literally rapping on his song, lol. Just go to the next song, sis,” one commenter wrote.

“Nicki, grow tf up, pleaseeeeez!” Another person said.

“She don’t mess with clowns, but she starts families with sex offenders, making make sense.”

Of course, Twitter users gave their two cents on the matter.

Minaj throwing shade at West ironically happened the same day Cardi B released her newest single, “Hot S**t,” which features West and Lil Durk.

There has been beef between Cardi B and Minaj for a while, mainly because Minaj allegedly liked a post that clowned Cardi’s mothering skills. Cardi B took to Instagram to project her rage on the rapper doing that and alleged that Minaj had threatened to cut ties with other artists in the industry if they collaborated with the “Bodak Yellow” rapper.

Fans speculate that this was exactly what Minaj was doing, showing West that he messed up collaborating with her alleged nemesis.

Minaj’s performance at Essence Festival was supposed to be live-streamed on Hulu but wasn’t despite the streaming company advertising it.
