Nickelodeon Alum Kel Mitchell Is Speaking Out About Ex-Wife, Tyisha, In Court

Good Burger star Kel Mitchell is fed up with his ex-wife, Tyisha Hampton,  belittling him publicly by painting him as a deadbeat father and digging into his pockets. Radar Online reported that the 43-year-old is calling for a judge to help mitigate the situation.

“Tyisha has done everything in her power to drag me through her path of destruction,” the actor said about his former wife in his court filing.

Hampton has unapologetically been vocal on social media about her ex-husband, referring to him as a deadbeat father and claiming he owes her $1.2 million in back child and spousal support. In the same Instagram post about the $1.2 million, she explained why she’s asking to collect that amount.

Hampton alleged that Mitchell made a little over $600,000 in 2020, bought an $800,000 house that same year, yet left her to be homeless after the divorce.

I’m no longer going to be a victim. I’m collecting everything I’m owed!” She said in the post’s caption. “If you are a fan of his, let him know #payyourex! You can’t be a man of God and not take care of your past responsibilities! You cannot continue being a hypocrite!”

She also accused him of not seeing his kids for ten years.

The All That actor has made it clear he’s not putting up with it and implied that all of Hampton’s claims are bogus.

“Despite my best efforts, I’ve still had to spend all these years and thousands of dollars to defend myself against her actions,” the comedic actor said. “Tyisha has pained me as a deadbeat father, not only to this courtroom but to the community and my entire public platform.”

“This couldn’t be farther from the truth,” he continued, explaining he has “paid above and beyond what I was ordered to pay in support for our children.”

Mitchell claimed he had tried to keep his children out of his and his ex-wife’s conflicts and provided for their needs. Whenever they started driving, he bought the cars. When they began attending college, he paid the tuition.

Mitchell also talked about how his divorce impacted him financially, causing him to file for bankruptcy once. He was “forced to start over” and get his life together while “rebuilding” his relationships and career.

In their legal battle, the two are currently fighting over a house in Pasadena Hampton was awarded, and Mitchell wants the original judgment to show the $425,000 she received from it.

The battle is still ongoing.

Aside from the financial situation, Hampton accused Mitchell of cheating on her during their relationship, saying that his longtime friend Nick Cannon put on her cheerleading uniform and cheered on the bed to cheer him up despite him cheating on her.
