Nick Cannon Says He Thinks Monogamy Is Unhealthy While Appearing On ‘The Language Of Love With Dr. Laura Berman’

Nick Cannon talked about monogamy and his growing family on an episode of The Language of Love with Dr. Laura Berman on Feb. 16. Cannon said that he believed monogamy was not healthy.

When speaking on monogamy, Cannon told Dr. Laura Berman that he thought people could have a bond and covenant without the government’s involvement. The talk show host also compared monogamy to selfishness and ownership.

“Married is not single. When you allow the government and paperwork to come in and say, ‘This is a bond, this is a covenant’ … you’re not single,” he said.

“You can still make covenants without getting the government involved, where two people say, ‘We choose to be monogamous because we value this so much, we don’t want anyone to be a part of this energy we have,’ and I don’t feel like that’s healthy. I feel like that gets into the space of selfishness and ownership,

Cannon is going to be an eight-time father once model Bre Tiesi gives birth, making her the fifth woman to have a child with the entertainer. Dr. Berman asked Cannon if all of the pregnancies were planned.

“I’m going to take full responsibility,” he replied. “Any woman that I know that I have unprotected sex with, there’s the potential to have a child. So, I feel like if I have unprotected sex with anyone I know – because one, I value everything about me so much, if I’ve gotten to that point where I say, ‘I can take off this condom,’ I’m gonna say, ‘She could be the mother of my child.'”

The talk show host admitted to struggling with co-parenting and intimacy when it came to the mothers of his children. Cannon also admitted

the issue would probably continue.

“Clearly,” he said. “If I care for someone, if I have a child with someone, there has been intimacy and there probably will continue to be intimacy because there’s true authentic love there. I have struggled with the co-parenting idea. Like, ‘OK, we’re just going to co-parent.’ And then you find yourself in these really nice, warm family environments… And it’s like, ‘What is this? What are we doing? How do you define this? You know I have to do this in multiple spaces.'”

Cannon shared The Language of Love with Dr. Berman clip on his Instagram page with a caption.

I am a work in progress. My journey with @drlauraberman continues. @languageoflovepodcast #NickCannonShow.”

Let’s hope that Cannon makes use of the gift sent to him by Kevin Hart.
